I built this site because I got tired of piecing together where to go from scattered forum threads and outdated blog posts. So every guide on here goes through the same process before it goes live, and again whenever we go back and update one.
Here’s what “checked” actually means:
We go there. Someone from the TKT team visits the city and the venues in person whenever we can. No guide gets written from a spreadsheet.
We call ahead. Venues change hours, close down, or go members-only without updating their website. A quick call (or DM, or email, depending on the place) confirms it’s actually still doing what the guide says it’s doing.
We check the venue’s own calendar. Event nights move around a lot in this scene. Before we list a night as recurring, we check the venue’s own site or socials for its current schedule, not just what it used to be.
We cross-check the community. Reddit threads, FetLife groups, and local forums tend to know first when something’s shut down, moved, or gone downhill. We read what people are actually saying before we vouch for a place.
Every guide carries a “Last verified” date near the top, linking back here. If it’s been a while and you know something’s changed, tell us – contact us and we’ll get it fixed.
