Short answer: Street clothes get you turned away at most serious fetish clubs, including KitKat in Berlin, Torture Garden in London and Klub Bizarre in Munich. Latex, PVC or leather gets you into nearly all of them. A harness on its own works at KitKat but usually not at Torture Garden. Tick what you’re packing below and the checker tells you, venue by venue, where you’ll get in.

How the checker decides
Each venue has a list of things its door accepts, written up from what we found when researching the guides, and sometimes a list of things it bans. If anything you ticked is on a venue’s accepted list, you’re in. If you’re wearing something the venue bans, you’re out, even if the rest of your outfit is perfect. “Maybe” means you’re in a grey zone: jeans under a harness at a strict club, or an all-black look at a party that says “dress kinky” without spelling it out.
Two things the checker can’t see. First, the door team. Confidence and a good attitude get people in with less, and a bad attitude gets people turned away in full rubber. Second, theme nights. KitKat, Le Keller and SLM all change the rules by night, so read the listing for the exact date you’re going.

Dress codes change, and parties at the same venue often have different rules. Check the event listing before you pack.
What to pack if you only have room for one thing
A pair of black latex or PVC leggings, or a leather harness plus black shorts. Run either through the checker and you’ll see they open the most doors for the least suitcase space. Latex folds flat and weighs almost nothing, but it needs talc or a dressing aid to get on, so pack that too. Our latex size calculator helps if you’re planning to buy in Berlin, Amsterdam or London instead of flying with it.
If you’d rather buy on arrival: RubAddiction and Blackstyle in Berlin, DeMask and Mister B in Amsterdam, Regulation and Skin Two in London, and Démonia in Paris.
Frequently asked questions
What is the dress code at KitKat Club in Berlin?
Fetish, leather, latex, harnesses or athletic wear. Street clothes get you sent home, and the bouncers don’t negotiate. Each party publishes its own dress code on the KitKat calendar, so check the specific night.
Can I wear black jeans and a harness to a fetish club?
At KitKat, usually yes. At Torture Garden in London, the guide is blunt: “black jeans and a harness” rarely works. At Berlin Dark in Barcelona and Klub Bizarre in Munich, jeans of any kind get you turned away. Swap the jeans for leather or rubber trousers and you’re fine almost everywhere.
What should a man wear to a swinger club?
It depends on the club. Les Chandelles in Paris wants a full suit or blazer and bans BDSM gear like collars and whips at the door. Le Boudoir in London asks for smart dress. Swingers Club Fantasy in Prague is smart-casual, with no shorts or sweatpants.
Do munches have a dress code?
No. Munches are casual social meetups in bars or cafés, and you wear normal clothes. Kink-Y in Berlin, the Society of Janus munch in San Francisco and the Milan munches all say outright that there’s no dress code.
Is there a dress code at Folsom Street Fair?
No. The street fairs (Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco, Folsom Europe in Berlin) are free and open to anyone. The ticketed parties around them are a different story and often have strict codes.
