The kink infrastructure in Mexico City is probably better organized than anywhere else in the country: a BDSM community founded in 2010 that meets every other week, the only leather bar of its type in the capital, a swingers’ club that opened in 1996, and a leather and fetish festival each year that draws visitors from across Latin America. There are numerous sex-positive spaces to join in the city before your visit.

Most of these venues are located in Zona Rosa and Roma. Most of the bear events occur in Zona Rosa. Between the two, you’ll be able to find most of what matters, provided you don’t need a lengthy taxi ride.
In terms of sheer size alone, Mexico City dwarfs other major international cities. That matters more here than in a European capital, where nearly the entire kink scene could potentially fit within one or two blocks. Walking between Zona Rosa and Roma is possible, but both Condesa, where Tom’s Leather Bar sits, and Venustiano Carranza, where Lupita Roma is, are far enough from Zona Rosa that you should budget for ridesharing, especially after dusk and during rush hour.
BDSM community
Calabozo MX was formed in 2010 as one of Mexico’s largest and longest-running BDSM communities, by a group of educators and practitioners seeking a real space for education rather than scattered online forums. Meetings take place biweekly with workshops, roundtable discussions and parties built around safe, sane and consensual practice. All are welcome regardless of sexual orientation or role. Their current meeting space is the Centro Cultural de la Diversidad at Colima 267 in Roma. Meetings may occasionally be held elsewhere, so check their social media pages before attending.
Shibari Mexico operates under the name La Virgen Blue and focuses specifically on rope education and community building through workshops and technique rather than organizing play parties. With Calabozo MX providing general education programs and Shibari Mexico focusing on rope instruction, new arrivals with no previous contacts can realistically build a full calendar within a couple of months of arrival.
LGBT leather and cruising
Tom’s Leather Bar is at Insurgentes Sur 357 in Condesa and claims to be the only dedicated leather fetish bar in Mexico City. Doors typically open about 9pm nightly and Tuesdays are free admission. Nicho Bears & Bar is at Londres 182 in Zona Rosa and functions as both a bear bar and a leather/fetish party venue, alongside underwear nights and go-go performances; no cover Thursdays, 80 pesos Fridays and Saturdays. El Almacén, at Florencia 37-B in Zona Rosa, is one of the older gay bars in Mexico City, features a backroom for cruising and includes a leather theme. Amberes 19 offers private cabins and dark rooms for men only, at the address of the same name in Zona Rosa, available daily rather than on a scheduled party-night basis.
Kinky Bar is located in Zona Rosa and operates as a multi-story nightclub featuring a cantina lounge area, karaoke, and outdoor seating on a rooftop deck; drag shows and go-go performers appear most evenings, though the name promises more than the actual venue delivers on the fetish front.
Swinger clubs
Swinger clubs include SW Club Lupita Roma, which operates out of Ote. 180 #305 in Moctezuma 2da Sección since 1996, making it the oldest swinger club in the capital. The layout consists of a dimly lit area, private rooms for three-way encounters, a dance floor, and enough tradition that newbies are shown what they need to know about this type of place quickly. Club Sensuale, located at Medellín 143 in Roma Norte, is newer and advertises its ability to keep things discreet while providing playrooms, live shows and a dining arrangement so the experience feels less like a traditional club and more like an exclusive event.
Shopping
The shopping district known as Zona Rosa has Calle Londres, where much of the city’s fetish shopping is concentrated along one walkable stretch. Erotika Londres sits right on that street, just a few steps from the Insurgentes metro station, selling everything from toys and lingerie to lubricants, anal plugs and harnesses; hours are Monday through Saturday, 10am to 9pm. Condomaniacos is another fetish shopping option in Zona Rosa, catering more heavily to bondage and fetish items such as enema kits, vibrators, costumes, whips, harnesses, latex sheets and chastity cages. Gold Dreams, on Amberes 12, has sixteen years behind it and claims to be among the first sex shops established in Latin America, a worthwhile visit for the history alone even if newer shops offer more selection.
Special events
One special event on Mexico City’s kink calendar is the Evolution International Leather & Fetish Fest, an international festival for the leather, fetish and BDSM community. It runs four consecutive days in early November, held across several different venues in Mexico City, aiming to bring together members of these communities, whether they live in Mexico or travel in from outside, through a combination of exhibitions, workshops, performances and parties.
BearMex covers the rest of the calendar with two separate weekends. Its Bear Pride Festival opens in late June with welcome parties at Nicho Bears & Bar and Tom’s Leather Bar, timed to line up with the city’s main Pride march, and its Leather Weekend runs Thursday through Sunday in November with dress-code parties of its own. Day passes typically run 400 to 800 pesos.
Mexico City Pride itself is the 48th edition in 2026, marching from the Ángel de la Independencia down Reforma to the Zócalo starting at 10am on the last Saturday of June, one of the largest Pride marches in Latin America and a genuinely useful anchor for timing a trip around both the mainstream and kink-specific sides of the calendar.
FAQ
What area of Mexico City seems to be the best organized when it comes to its kink community? Mexico City’s best organized area in terms of its kink community is the BDSM community. Calabozo MX has hosted biweekly meetups, workshops and parties every month since 2010, making it one of the largest and longest-running kink communities in Mexico. It has a permanent home at the Centro Cultural de la Diversidad in Roma.
Are there any dedicated leather bars in Mexico City? Yes. Tom’s Leather Bar, located in the upscale neighborhood of Condesa, calls itself “the only leather bar in Mexico City.” Nicho Bears & Bar, located in Zona Rosa, holds leather and fetish themed events but tends to focus mostly on the bear community, whereas Tom’s tends to focus solely on the leather community.
How would you rate the swinger club scene in Mexico City compared to other large cities such as Guadalajara or Milan? Mexico City has the oldest and most developed swinger club scene of the three. SW Club Lupita Roma has been operating since 1996, decades prior to the development of many of the newer clubs that have popped up around the rest of the country. Club Sensuale offers couples a more discreet, modern option.
For those who prefer to shop for fetishes, where do I go? Zona Rosa’s Calle Londres. If you walk down that street you’ll find yourself at Erotika Londres, Condomaniacos and Gold Dreams, all within a short distance of each other, offering just about anything from lingerie to actual bondage equipment.
If I’m looking for something special during my stay in Mexico City regarding the kink calendar, what time of year is best? Early November or late June. Either way you can see the mainstream Pride crowd come together with the kink specific community. In early November there’s the Evolution International Leather & Fetish Fest. In late June there’s the BearMex Bear Pride Festival, which coincidentally falls right on top of Mexico City’s main Pride march.
Will I need to know someone to get involved with the local BDSM community in Mexico City? No. That’s why Calabozo MX exists. Calabozo MX was created so newcomers didn’t have to search out pieces of the local scene on their own through different internet forums. The biweekly meetings that take place at Calabozo MX are usually how visitors and residents alike enter into the local kink specific community.
If this guide is your primary source of information for your trip to Mexico City, which neighborhoods should I book my hotel room in? You may want to consider booking your room in either Zona Rosa or Roma. These two neighborhoods are next door to one another and encompass everything you’ll need: the leather bars, fetish stores and Calabozo MX headquarters. Tom’s Leather Bar in Condesa and Lupita Roma in Venustiano Carranza are both quite a ways away, so you’ll likely need a rideshare either way.
As a tourist, is it safe to explore this kink scene? All of the venues listed above are well established and situated in very busy sections of both Zona Rosa and Roma. As with any major city, use common sense; a rideshare is generally safer than walking alone in unfamiliar territory, especially after dark. Use Calabozo MX’s screening process as an advantage, not a disadvantage.
