Milan is Italy’s kink capital. Not Rome. Not Florence. Not the Amalfi Coast touristy version of Italy. An educator has spent 30 years in the scene. He bluntly states, “Milano è la capitale del BDSM italiano.” Clubs have membership cards. Munches take place in bars. Dungeons are rented by the hour as a shared office space for impact play. Here is what’s really available: the clubs, the stores, the rental rooms and one card you should have in your wallet before any of these will open their doors to you.

Fair warning, don’t make reservations yet; Milan does not allow spontaneity. Almost all of Milan’s private clubs work off of an association membership model. Therefore, simply showing up in your best outfit will not earn you entry. This is not a barrier to prevent tourists from entering. This is how Italian nightlife laws dictate that anything above the average bar is treated. Once you know the card system, the scene opens quickly, and it is much larger than most people outside of Italy think.
The majority of that scene doesn’t operate from public events pages. When asked, nearly everyone said FetLife, a Facebook group that has a name that tells you absolutely nothing, or a Telegram channel someone invites you to after attending a munch. That is normal behavior here, not for the sake of being secretive, just because the community learned to organize themselves using the Internet once it allowed them to feel less isolated in their city. The venues listed below represent the obvious level. The munches are how you are introduced to the rest of it.
Clubs, parties and bars
BDSM and fetish clubs
There is one club in Milan that conducts real, organized BDSM (the type of BDSM recognized by educators), and the rest of the “kinky” nightlife in Milan resembles a swinger’s scene with a fetish night added to it. That one club is Nautilus, located at Via Privata Mondovì 7, which sits between Via Padova and Via Palmanova near the Crescenzago metro stop. Nautilus operates under the Club Privé Milano Nautilus name, hosting a series of events including a monthly kinky, BDSM, fetish night on the last Monday of each month, a Sunday afternoon play party that represents Nautilus’ main BDSM event, and individual foot-fetish and femdom-slave nights throughout the week. Weekend events start around 10 pm and typically continue until 3 to 4 am. A membership card is required for entry (see the ANDDOS section below), and a membership purchased directly through Nautilus costs approximately €50 per couple, €30 per single male, €15 per single female, valid for one year.
Outside of organized play activities, Milan’s swinger clubs serve as a replacement. La Divina, located at Via Melchiorre Gioia 80, offers a comprehensive schedule of couples-and-singles nights within walking distance of downtown Milan and walkable from multiple metro stops. Harem Club Privé, found in Cologno Monzese just beyond Milan’s boundaries, claims to be the largest private club of its type in Italy, boasting over 4,000 square meters, and is generally open from early afternoon to late night. While neither La Divina nor Harem focus primarily on BDSM activities, both offer themed nights, and due to sheer size alone, Harem is certainly worth traveling to see if size is what matters.
LGBT leather and cruising clubs
Milan’s gay leather circuit exists, and in contrast to mixed clubs, does not attempt to hide its fetish nature. Bangalov, Via Calabria 5, is what people refer to when saying “heavy,” without qualification, a BDSM-focused cruising club offering Naked, Underwear and full leather nights. Depot, located at Via Valtorta 19 in Turro, is smaller and intentionally rougher in design, a private-membership bar designed in complete darkness. Hot Dog Club covers multiple floors within a building that houses a bathhouse, spreading a cruisers’ community interested in leather and rubber throughout those floors and holds fetish and naked nights that attract a greater number of individuals than do the establishments with strict dress codes.
If you prefer to experience fewer physical challenges, Illumined, at Via Napo Torriani 12, remains open 24 hours providing private cabins along with a maze-like layout where scheduling is unnecessary. Inferus Club, found in Città Studi, features slings and glory holes incorporated into the design rather than serving as add-ons. And finally, Company Club, at Via Privata Benadir 14, has existed since 1994, longer than many of the other establishments listed here, attracts a bear-inclined clientele and possesses two bars.
Saunas and bathhouses
Royal Hammam, located at Via Plezzo 16 in Lambrate, offers an upscale experience to those looking for both heat and steam in addition to cruising. Royal Hammam provides a true Turkish-style bath experience, as opposed to the typical sauna and dark-room combination found elsewhere. TBlue Sauna, located slightly farther north on Via Ernesto Breda 158, is geared more toward an older, bearish clientele and gets recommended by people who’ve visited the bigger clubs and found them either too young or too loud.
Munches
Milan holds its munches the traditional Italian way: no dress code, no play. Guests gather around a bar table and socialize with each other instead, and newcomers generally find themselves among plenty of familiar faces. TNG Milano has met every third Friday of the month since 2013. It’s aimed at younger adults, under 35, exploring BDSM and alternative sexuality for the first time, though established couples of any age are welcome to join. Burger Munch Milano Nord, sponsored by the Sadika femdom club, meets less frequently at a location in Cologno Monzese. Entry costs around €10, including a membership card and a drink or snack. Dates for both are posted on Facebook instead of a set calendar, so check before planning a trip around one.

Shopping
Most of Milan’s fetish stores sit close together, and one stands far above the rest. SexDelirious, located at Via Camillo Prampolini 2 in the Dergano district, covers about 400 square meters and describes itself as the largest and best-stocked fetish store in Lombardy. It also runs its own in-house bondage courses and demonstrations rather than just selling gear off a shelf. Doors open at 9am Monday through Saturday, 10am on Sundays.
Two smaller stores round out the shopping options. WOVO Store, on Via Savona 45 in the Navigli design district, lets customers handle sample items before buying, useful for anyone who’s never owned any percentage of what they’ve been browsing. SEXSADE Fetish Boutique, on Via Felice Casati 8, leans toward lingerie and wearable fetish pieces over hardware.
Dungeon and playspace rentals
One part of Milan’s kink scene surprises a lot of visitors from cities without it: you can rent a fully equipped dungeon by the hour, much like renting a photography studio. Dungeon Terapya, in the Via Cadore area, charges around €50 an hour for a private space with soundproofing and air conditioning, built-in equipment like a St. Andrew’s cross, a medical area, a shower, and a separate entrance so nobody has to walk past a front desk. On request, you can arrange for a mistress or master to staff the session. Dungeon Hedonism, in Porta Romana, runs a similar hourly setup but caps bookings at two people and leans into an underground, Inquisition-themed aesthetic, all handcrafted equipment in an actual old cellar space. If you’d rather the room come attached to a bed for the night, Silk Motel offers a “Dungeon Lussuria” suite, 50 square meters, configurable to whatever the booking calls for.
Special events
Milan has the largest ongoing BDSM night, “Sadistique,” on the first Sunday of each month at Nautilus (ship themed) with individual rooms designed for bondage, flogging and cages, not all together in one large space. Leather & Fetish Milano, a nonprofit organization, has been running monthly events year round for ten years now and hosts two annual dates: the Italian Fetishman of the Year contest in March, and the Milan Leather and Fetish Weekend. The weekend begins on Friday night with a fetish attire-only party at Bangalov. First timers are welcomed as well as those who don’t have a complete kit. Outside the fetish calendar proper, Milano Pride closes out June with a march ending at the Arco della Pace, and half the kink community turns out for it anyway, fetish-specific or not.
Getting into a club: the ANDDOS card, explained
Nearly all private venues in this guide, whether they are gay or otherwise, do not fall into the category of “clubs” as defined by Italian law. These are private associations, so access to them, like with social clubs and sport clubs, requires being a member or being a guest of one.
The most common method of obtaining membership is purchasing an ANDDOS card. This costs approximately €17 per year for a national LGBT association membership that grants access to many other clubs and saunas throughout Italy, not only Milan. Memberships can be purchased through the One Pass app prior to arrival, or often directly at the club itself. Once you’re a member, having your health insurance card or another scannable ID speeds up the entry process. A few straight-leaning clubs like Nautilus run their own membership instead of ANDDOS, but the logic is identical: pay in once, and every visit after that is just a normal night out.
FAQ
Is Milan actually a great place to visit for BDSM travel, or is it mostly hype? It’s real. Milan has been practicing BDSM longer than nearly anywhere else in Italy, and this area is the true BDSM capital of Italy. With the sheer amount of places within walking distance, including the only club in Milan that hosts a structured BDSM event each week, a complete leather and cruising circuit, monthly munches (a casual social gathering for kinksters), and multiple dungeon spaces where you can go to play and never have to bring anything but your body, you would be hard-pressed to find another location quite as rich in variety as Milan.
Will I need a membership card prior to my arrival in order to gain entry into the clubs? Yes. For the vast majority of private clubs in Milan, you will need either a membership card when you arrive, or make plans to obtain one upon entering. In Milan, LGBT leather bars use an ANDDOS card (€17 per year) that grants access to the LGBT leather venues. Many clubs, including Nautilus (the only club in Milan hosting regular BDSM nights and structured events), also offer their own membership cards. If you can sign up in advance using the app, it will save you some time waiting for entrance once you arrive.
How does the structure and offerings differ between Milan’s private BDSM clubs and private swingers clubs? Nautilus is Milan’s only club offering scheduled BDSM nights, bondage, femdom, and feet-themed evenings. The other clubs that are primarily swinger-oriented venues include La Divina and Harem Club. These clubs do host themed nights from time to time which may involve elements of kink or fetishism, however these events are not necessarily designed around kink as the primary focus of the evening.
Am I able to simply walk into a munch off the street? Yes. That is what the concept behind munches is: a completely non-play-based casual meetup for individuals who are interested in or currently active in the kink community. There’s no expectation of a dress code. TNG Milano and Burger Munch Milano Nord both post information on their upcoming meetings on Facebook and typically don’t follow a consistent weekly schedule, so check before you show up.
Can tourists really pay for a private dungeon rental experience in Milan? Well, yes, and this is one of the more unique aspects of the local scene. Both Dungeon Terapya and Dungeon Hedonism offer completely private dungeons that may be rented hourly, no membership required. These rentals start at about €50 per hour, and you can even ask for a mistress or master to run the session if you’re not bringing your own.
How does the LGBT leather scene in Milan differ from the mixed scene? The scenes have little overlap. The gay circuit (Bangalov, Depot, Hot Dog Club, Illumined) is purely an environment for cruising and has leather dress-code events without much advance notice, you just go to the place and the venue takes care of the rest. The mixed scene operates in complete reverse: all events at either Nautilus or the swingers clubs happen on a set date and time, and showing up at the wrong time gets you nothing more than a normal bar.
Can one interact with the community at large without being forced to spend money at a club? Yes, and most locals will point you toward the community before they point you toward a venue. There are various FetLife groups, several unmarked Facebook groups, and multiple Telegram channels passed out at local munch gatherings. If you prefer a personal interaction before committing to a club membership, TNG Milano and Burger Munch Milano Nord are the easiest places to make initial contact.
